See and Paint! - Oil Painting

Two days, tutored throughout, exploring painting in oils β€” how it moves, how it mixes, how it responds to what's beneath it. Working with a limited palette of colours to create a range of outcomes.

Suited to anyone wanting to start to paint with oils, or developing their studio practice through material research, discussion, and testing what the medium allows.

By the end of the two days you'll have painted using techniques you can keep developing as your own β€” two full days of hands-on painting, tutored throughout by Alan.

FAQs

Do I need any experience?

These courses are for adult makers at different stages of their practice — those starting out, people who are looking for a way back in, and practiced makers looking to work through a process and consider new approaches. Your interest and curiosity to take part is what matters, not where you’re starting from.

What materials do I need?

A material list is set for each course. These are normal sketching or painting kit that a beginner or more experienced drawer or painter is likely to have or need for their own use. Additional materials will be provided in combination with what you bring. If you need to add to yours, as a course delegate you will be entitled to a 10% discount on all non-discounted items at the Millers Art Store, 28 Stockwell Street, Glasgow, G1 4RT. Full-time university or college students can get up to 20% off with valid student ID.

What are the group sizes?

Places are limited on purpose. It’s small enough that there’s room for individual attention and the space to comfortably work. For drawing this can be 6-8, for painting this will be smaller.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made securely by a range of payment methods; Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna Instalments. These are processed by Stripe payment services. The transaction on your card or bank statement will show Teal Creatives Limited, the legal entity of Alan Brash Art. No payment method details are shared with us by Stripe.

Cancellations made 21 days or more before the course receive a full refund; after that, refunds are not available. You can transfer your place to someone else free of charge, or move to another date where a place is available. Full details are in our Cancellation Policy.
